Action or Reaction?

Happy New Year!!!

It is another year and you may wonder what my resolution is? My resolution is to act instead of react.

What does it mean to act instead of react?

When we react, it is usually in response to something we do not like to deal with, and are typically initiated by others. We may fall victim to a situation and respond out of despair, anger, in a hurry or with limited choices.

When we act it is usually conscious, loving and proactive. We act based on what makes us happy now or in the future. By acting we stay in our power and re-enforce our self-worth.

Action is eating at a restaurant you enjoy and walking two minutes more for it. Reaction is becoming angry at eating somewhere closer which you already knew food was not good there.

Action is constantly looking for opportunities to find the job you love to do. Reaction is to look for a job when you are no longer needed.

Action is surrounding yourself with people who uplift and encourage you. Reaction is getting fed-up with negativity of people around you and complaining about it.

Action is expressing how you feel without shaming or blaming. Reaction is being upset for not being heard or understood.

Action is taking the next step no matter how small. Reaction is being frozen, depressed and worried how everything will pan out.

Action is starting a day new. Reaction is waking up being upset about yesterday or last year.

Action is based on faith, trust, joy, love, forgiveness, and courage. Reaction is based on fear, anger, resentment, jealousy and self-doubt.

In summary, my resolution is to have more action and less and less reaction.

Wish you the best in the coming year.
